It was definitely an open season on comedy in my household- while other children were listening to Rafi, my brother and I would laugh along with Bill Cosby, Eddie Murphy, Steve Martin, and Spike Jones. While the Star Wars Trilogy was in heavy rotation... the same went with Mel Brook’s movies, Monty Python, and really anything remotely verboten for children - like Cheech and Chong and SNL. Sure, I had heroes and they were all comics, and nothing was better than making someone laugh-even at the expense of my dignity and reputation.
